The YITP workshop “The 58th Summer School of Young Researchers Society for Biophysics” was held on August 27 - 30, 2018 in Gifu Nagaragawa Onsen Hotel Park, Minato-machi, Gifu city, Gifu prefecture with 82 participants.
The purpose of the workshop was to cultivate human resources capable of taking effective role in various research field in the future by having young researchers to know the diversity and attraction of biophysical research.
The workshop was comprised of opening session (one lecture), basic seminars (four lectures), sectional sessions (eight lectures) and closing session (one lecture). Young researcher's poster presentations was also held. The title of each session was as follows:
Opening session:
≫ Data science and computational science related to protein structure.
Basic seminar:
≫ Resonance Raman spectroscopy contributed by biophysics, biophysics
contributed to resonant Raman spectroscopy.
≫ Is "theory" necessary for biophysics?
≫ Structural physiology and drug discovery.
≫ Basics of biomolecular dynamics simulation.
Sectional meeting:
≫ Energy transfer and charge separation reaction in light collection system
as quantum dissipation system.
≫ Molecular simulation of functional dynamics of biomolecular machines:
Molecular motors, transporters, biosensors.
≫ Structural transitions and functions of proteins as seen from long-term
simulation.
≫ The remaining mystery of the biological clock which can not be
explained yet.
≫ Development of high speed AFM and measurement of protein dynamics.
≫ Mechanism of highly efficient energy conversion of biological
supramolecular motors.
≫ Artificial modification of module integrated RNA by evolution molecular
engineering and structural design.
≫ Break down cells and create cells: understanding of life by creating.
Closing session:
≫ Protein folding studies and future of biophysics.
This workshop was supported by Yukawa Institute of Theoretical Physics. We would like to thank all participants for success of this workshop.
