Physics of bulk-edge correspondence and its universality: From solid state physics to cold atoms: International workshop 2016 (BEC2016)
2016/09/27 --- 2016/09/30
Panasonic Auditorium, Yukawa Institute, Kyoto
This workshop is organized for open discussion among people interested in bulk-edge correspondence. Topological phase is one of the hottest topics in the recent condensed matter physics. However, in most of the cases, topological nature of the bulk is hidden in the sense that it is hardly observed by experiments. On the other hand, there exists characteristic edge states localized near the system boundaries or impurities, if the bulk is topologically non-trivial. This inter-relation is the bulk-edge correspondence. In the workshop, we discuss its validity in various physical systems not only solid state systems. The concept can be effectively applied to cold atoms, photonic crystals even in classical dynamics. We also try to discuss with mathematicians who share common interests in the bulk-edge correspondence.
